A passion for Pickleball!

The team from Pickleball Complete attended the Skechers Pickleball English Open at Telford from 7th to 14th August 2024.  This was our first time both as vendors and players and combining the two was hard work but great fun.  

Our trade stand was very popular and we had the pleasure of meeting so many participants from all over the UK and further afield. There was an entry of nearly 2000 players across the age groups with categories ranging from juniors through to over 75s.  This sport really does have something for everyone.

Our converts from table tennis to Pickleball all achieved success. Matt Leete and Lucy Elliott came away with a silver medal in their mixed doubles category and Barry Chapman and Ian Cooke achieved men’s doubles gold. Sue Chapman and her partner from Dunstable, Jean Rayiru, won silver in the ladies doubles, a feat with which they were particularly pleased, having only met each other that morning.

It was a rewarding experience in many respects.  Yes we were very busy, but the camaraderie and friendship of the players, volunteers and officials made it a pleasure.  Hopefully the name of Pickleball Complete will now be recognised and we look forward to meeting the “English contingent” again in October at the Nationals in Bolton.
